Recently posted at the ESRI Gulf Oil Spill Response group on ArcGIS Online are some new resources for ArcGIS Explorer users. The plume boundaries are available as a map service delivered via an ArcGIS Explorer layer file, and show areas of light, medium, and heavy oil as well as areas where oil has reached beaches. The plume is updated periodically as more recent trajectory information becomes available.
A layer package of critical habitats along the Gulf Coast has also been added. The data was obtained from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service critical habitat database. Click a habitat area to learn more about the species of concern, and view a sample photo.
